CredOne App

My Role

My role in this project as a UX designer was to take ownership of the app’s design, from concept to delivery, along with the other members of my team. My responsibilities included: user research, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, iteration, and the creation of a final high-fidelity prototype.

The problem

The target customers of CredOne are typically located in metropolitan areas, and they want an easy-to-use solution to manage their card bills in one place.

The goal

Our goal was to design an app that is simple for all users - that allows them to easily manage their cards, make quick payments and help redeem rewards.

Design Process

Research

We conducted interviews with target users, then distilled what we learned into actionable steps. We used the insights we discovered to identify pain points our users were experiencing. We entered our research with a set of assumptions, but those assumptions changed as we spoke to real people who deal with the topic we were researching.

The most important pain points we uncovered were:

  • Managing multiple credit cards payment

  • Multiple apps and different ways of interactions to make payments

  • Users want the option to make payments for all cards they hold

  • The app needs to do more to engage users and get them excited about rewards and cashback offers

  • Non-native English readers need support for their language

Persona

It shows who are our users and who is CredOne App for.

User Story

As a multiple credit card holder, I want to view each cards total due and due date in one place so that I am aware of my upcoming payments.

User Journey Map

The series of experiences persona had as he tries to make a payment

Problem Statement

Roy is a multiple credit card user who needs to add new cards, manage all existing credit cards, view total dues and make payments before the due dates because he finds difficulty to manage payments on multiple channels.

Hypothesis Statement

If Roy downloads the CredOne app then he can add, manage cards, view due dates and make due total payments.

Value Proposition

  • Ability to add and manage multiple credit cards

  • View due dates and total due amounts for each card

  • Ability to make payments for each card

  • Helps in avoiding late payments and improve credit score

  • Present spending activity patterns for each card

  • Access rewards

Design Ideation

Brainstorming - Use of How Might We

  • How might we enable user to view multiple credit cards from different banks in one place?

  • How might we let user view all due dates and Total dues?

  • How might we help user not missing due date for payment?

  • How might we help user to maintain a good credit card score?

  • How might we enable user to fully utilize rewards and cashback on credit cards? etc.

Crazy Eights

Product Goal Statement

Our CredOne app will let users to handle all their credit cards in one app which will affect multiple credit card owners by allowing them to add, manage, view due dates, view due totals and make payments. We will measure effectiveness by analyzing delayed payments.

User Flow

Usability Testing

Study type: Remote moderated usability study

Tool: Figma and Userzoom tool

Location: United States, remote (each participant went through the usability study in their own home)

Participants: Five participants, each completing the study individually

Length: Each session was 5-10 minutes, based on a list of prompts

Results: Users were unsure about adding new credit cards. Users were also not aware of the complex naming conventions. Wanted a simple payment process.

Conclusion

While designing the CredOne App, I learned that the first ideas for the app are only the beginning of the process. Usability tests and peer feedback influence each iteration of the app. As time goes on and users continue to give feedback, future improvements will surface and become more clear, and the product will continue to get better.
