Annada

My Role

My role in this project as a UX designer was to take ownership of the app’s design, from concept to delivery, along with the other members of my team. My responsibilities included: user research, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, iteration, and the creation of a final high-fidelity prototype.

The problem

The target customers of Annada are restaurant owners who wish to donate excess or surplus food on a daily basis.

The goal

Our goal was to design a responsive web platform that is simple for all restaurant owners to schedule a pickup slot for the next 24hrs and specify the number of meals they wish to donate.

Persona

It shows who are our users and who is Annada platform for.

Design Process

Research

I conducted user research and received feedback from users that I incorporated into user personas.

For example, our user persona, Shalu, is a 32-year old restaurant owner who wants to donate surplus food at the end of each day. The research revealed that Shalu was frustrated by not finding any platform where they can take care of the excess food and make good use rather than just dumping it. We also learned that Shalu wanted to help people who are in need of food. Shalu would like to see improvements to the app, like bigger buttons, simple icons, and minimal design. Since Shalu wants to donate food on daily basis she would like to know how many people she served her meals to.

Problem Statement

Shalu is a restaurant owner who wants to donate excess food left in her restaurant daily because she wishes to feed them rather than dump it.

Conclusion

Designing for Annada was designing for social good. While designing Annada, I learned as a designer we are also responsible to contribute solutions that make our society a better place. Research is a key aspect and finding a solution around the user's pain point is the aim.
